Winston Wingtip Derby (Men)

This walnut wingtip derby from Allen Edmonds has been a great addition to my rotation. The craftsmanship is what you’d hope for with the clean broguing, solid stitching, and a shoe due to the color that works equally well with chinos or denim. It’s a true Goodyear welted shoe, and considering the price I paid, it feels like a bit of a steal. Fit is true to size, and I was impressed by how comfortable it felt right out of the box supportive without being stiff. There was a small flaw with a what one may consider a microscopic chip in the side welt but used a bit of black snow edge polish to hide it. No complaints whatsoever!

I bought a pair of shoes from the same company before, and they had a much better presentation than these more expensive ones. This pair came without a box—just placed inside a Nordstrom fabric bag. That made me feel like the company doesn’t care about their higher-end products. When I asked for the box, the employee told me the shoes arrived without one. I mentioned that I had purchased several pairs in the past, and he replied, “He shipped several shoes in the past.” It was a very unprofessional response. I don’t understand how Nordstrom can sell such expensive products while showing so little attention to detail or customer care.
