Teresa High Waist Wide Leg Jeans with Patch Pockets

I'm 5'8" long-waisted with average length legs and these pants fit great so wish the fabric was better. They have an off-putting chemical smell. I washed them 3 times before wearing, and even after that the first time I wore them noticed the smell. Also, I followed all washing instructions and the black has already started to fade.

Keeping these cute pants, but fair warning: They have an odd, tar-like smell, most likely from the elastics. Not apparent in the store at try-on, but it bloomed in the wash--wafted out of the washing machine when I opened it. Washed again, and the scent softened. Now they're hanging outside before first wear. I assume/hope the scent will continue to fade. These have a nice, flattering fit. Fingers crossed they don't start stinking as I wear them--a possibility in the New Orleans humidity!
