Paring knife
Got this on sale and love having this 4" knife in the block in the kitchen. This knife is great for all types of salad preparation or for fruit desserts. Small and versatile with the Shun knife edge making food prep easy. Enjoyed this knife so much I had to get a second one for the kitchen.

Worthless Knife!
I have tried to give the knife a chance. Also have the Classic line version. Just tried to use it peel , the intended purpose of a paring knife, and it does not work. The blade is too wide to make cuts like peeling an apple or squash. This is a waste of money knife. The narrower blade available in the Classic line is prefect, and a often used tool, The Wide Classic paring was a gift,
Just to valid my comments. I know 14 Shun knives. Ken Onion (Bread and Chef), Classic (Chef, Western Chef and more..), Premier (Chef, Bread paring, and Taiyo....All are amazing, EXCEPT this wide based paring.. useless..

Compared to our prior knives,
Compared to our prior knives, these are more evenly balanced and lighter. My wife loves the overall look of the knife and functional style of blade with dimpling.

Beautiful knife. Stays sharp for long. If you heavily prep though I suggest getting a ceramic honing. They dull out after heavy prep for a couple of months.
