Mayte Ankle Strap Sandal

I bought these sandals without reading the reviews because of the great price, but now that I received them and tried them on I read the comments and they are so right! The thin toe straps are super uncomfortable. I cut off the back strap anchor/loop following another buyer’s suggestion and they are a bit less painful to wear. They are designed to cause pain and discomfort! If they weren’t final sale I would definitely return them.

Most painful shoe I’ve ever bought and unfortunately, it was a final sale so I’m stuck with them. That ankle strap is brutal.

I decided to order them despite all the negative comments saying they were too tight around the ankle. The quality is excellent, and while it's true that they do feel tight, I found a simple solution: I cut the back loop that holds the straps in place. That made a huge difference and significantly reduced the pressure around my ankle.

As many reviews mention, this sandal is very uncomfortable when you tie the strap. I have thin ankles and usually have to tie the strap on the last hole but this strap doesn’t have any stretch. The sandals is very cute and I like how delicate it looks. Because of this I am keeping the sandal. I moved the strap different ways on my ankle and found the most comfortable fit is if you have that knot portion of the shoe on the side of your ankle instead of the back. I also put toilet paper as a barrier just to see if it was more comfortable and it was. So I will be buying some sort of barrier to put behind my ankle when I wear these. I’m hoping with wear I won’t have to do this every time but like I said I like the look of the sandal so I’m going to make it work.

Two big problems with this CUTE sandal necessitated returning them: The sole is hard and so it WHAP WHAP WHAPPED every time I took a step; and, second, the position of the back strap anchor rubbed so uncomfortable walking even 10 feet to get in front of a mirror. I don't understand how it could hurt that bad, but there you have it. Not wearable. I usually wear a 6.5 in sandals, 7.0 in running shoes, and a 7.5 in snowboots. The 6.5 fit perfectly.

I had high hopes for these sandals due to their cushioning but they did not work out. The cushioning squeaked a little when I walked but the worst part was the strap which tightened itself with every step. At the end of walking about 10 feet the strap was painfully tight around my ankle. Immediate return.
