Light Packer Hike Hooded Vest

For size reference I’m 5’2 132 lb & my normal size is a M but when I purchase FP tops i always have to size down to a XS. I probably could have gotten a S too but I like the overall fit of this vest as is. It is fully lined. Thicker than a typical windbreaker. It’s slightly cropped but wasn’t an issue. It’s lightweight & comfy fit. The multi pockets is a nice touch. I really like that this can be worn alone instead of layered over a top. Couldn’t decide on color so I got both the Navy & Neon Yellow. They will be a great staple this Spring & Summer.

I usually wear an XS top from this brand, but since this vest is cropped, I went with a size S to layer underneath and have a more comfortable fit around the shoulders and armholes. The vest itself is lightweight and works well over a sleeveless top or T-shirt even in the summer, though the attached accessories feel a bit heavy. It has plenty of pockets, and the hood is packable, which makes it very practical.

I loved this vest in both colors but chose the navy for its versatility. It’s lightweight, flattering and unique—an easy piece that adds something interesting to a simple outfit. It runs big. I normally wear a small, ordered an XS, and it’s still roomy. Unfortunately, mine has two zipper pulls, and the bottom one was installed upside down, making the zipper difficult to use properly. The zipper itself also feels like low-quality plastic, and other reviews mention similar zipper issues. That’s especially disappointing at the original $128 price, and even at the $69 sale price, I’m not convinced the quality justifies the cost. I really love the vest, so I might just pull it on overhead and avoid using the zipper altogether. I’m still deciding whether I like it enough to overlook the defect. I also think a zip-away hood would have made it more versatile. I wanted to leave an honest review so others know what to expect. Quality control with Free People has become a bit of a gamble—you never quite know if the quality will match the price. Hopefully this helps someone else decide whether the style is worth overlooking the zipper issues. It would be nice is FP or Nordstrom would respond to customer feedback -it would be reassuring to know it's time well spent and to know these quality concerns are actually being heard. Do better!!!

Love the crazy neon yellow! Perfect when doing outdoor festivals and being found

Trying to decide if zipper is faulty, it allows for bottom up, but seems to have a mind of its own. Will try wearing it around the house for a bit to see how it works out. Other than that… Design is great though lots of fabric. You could definitely size down. I’m guessing this will come in handy for walks and even golf, and not look boring like all the other golf clothing.
