Drawstring Linen Shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't like wearing shorts that much, but I'm very pleased with these. The legs are a good length and not too wide. I have a long torso and the rise on these is sufficiently high that I can easily tuck in my shirt and have it stay there without constant adjustment. Sizing is mostly TTS, but I'd recommend rounding up if you're between sizes, especially if you have a smaller waist to hip ratio; the shorts are cut fairly straight through the rise. By measurements I'm between a 0 and 2 and the XS were a little difficult to get over the hips. Meanwhile the S fit easily but are loose in the waist, so it's a good thing the shorts have the drawstring as the looseness does not impact the look. Finally, the Henna colour is gorgeous, and I wish Madewell would make more trousers in this shade, which would be great for fall. It actually looks a little more brown in person than it does on the website, giving it a very nice earthy, reddish tone that pairs well with more colours than I thought.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to find linen shorts in this unusual color to replace a similar favorite pair. It's a gorgeous, deep brown-red that goes with absolutely everything. The shorts are a nice weight of linen, have good pockets, and are a perfect length. I'm 5'3" and they hit middle-to-upper thigh. They are super comfortable, but do run very small. I'm usually a small or medium at MW, but needed a large in these for the waist. Other reviews say the same. It's too bad, because with wear the other areas of the short become a bit too baggy, while for the waist I still need that size. But overall they are lovely and will get a lot of use.
