Trini Shift Dress

I ordered a size 6 and a size 8 because I currently buy medium size t shirts but sometimes fit into size 6 dresses but need an 8 if there are sleeves on the dress.. I kept the 6 because it fit me wonderfully! I'm 5'3" and 135lbs 36b. I do not have a defined waistline, so I was concerned that the dress would be too tight around the middle. I am delighted that it is not too tight and hangs very nicely. I have athletic arms with muscular shoulders so this being a sleeveless style is the first nice thing, but the dress is also not too big in the arm holes. The details on this dress make it worth the price point. The zipper is attractive, the material is high quality and the lining is lightweight enough to make it feel cool but still have a tailored and polished appearance. The hem basting on the inside also has a cute detail that no one will see - the word "Lilly" is woven throughout. I am wearing this to my daughter's wedding, as I do not like traditional mother of the bride dresses, and this is going to be a hot, July wedding outside at a farmstead venue. I will feel dressy and oh so Lilly (I love the lace detail at the front). All seams and construction are quality finished. I am so so happy with this dress!

I thought it was a myth- the perfect fit in a Lilly shift . But for me, it now exists. I am wider on the bottom than on the top. Most shifts are cut straight so they would be way too big up top before I finally could wriggle my backside in. To add to the fit conundrum, I am short waisted. So most misses dress waist lines hit well below my real waist line. This dress solves both my issues. It's an ever so slight A line AND has a modified empire waist. Not true "Bridgerton"Empire waisted, it's dropped slightly lower than the bottom of the bra line. So it sits just above my true waist at the narrowest part of my torso. The bodice has princess seams and fits so nicely. But best of all, the slight A line on the skirt means no tugging or pulling across my booty. It fit like a dream and I feel very elegant in it. I ordered the pink color and it's a nice warm pink- very flattering. Not cool or barbie pink. The neck line is well cut and not too low for a woman of a definite Certain Age. I usually wear a 12 Petite in a dress. This is a 12 and I am very happy with it.
