Calder Smocked Midi Dress

The second I put it on, I was in love. Probably the best Free People Dress I’ve ever owned. Was attracted due to the shade of blue and I love stars. Love the styling with the biker boots on the model too, great way to start styling it to be comfortable and a bit more rugged but still feminine. I would say it’s true to size since I based it off of the hip sizing and the ties in the back can help shape the top half a bit more. Another review was a bit unfounded, I would say, as the sizing is rather fair in its measurements on the sizing chart and it’s a long dress so someone who is a bit more short/petite would be mindful of that. Body type wouldn’t matter unless you don’t fit into the sizing and it’s a matter of if it suits you or not with the shape of the dress. I have wider set hips so I went with the large and it fits just fine. If you want tighter silhouettes then of course you don’t get this, the photo shows it’s meant to drape and be of a loose, shapeless fit. Quality is there also, feels breathable for hot weather and you have an open back to feel more of a breeze. The lace and stitching is also done rather well, the cutting of extra fabric past the embroidery is clean enough and it has a slip that ends past the hips about mid thigh for me. I’ve seen more expensive dresses that don’t even try to include a slip/lining so this gave it extra points! Includes pockets that I wish were sewn down cuz they do bunch up a bit but I can stitch it down to the slip/lining myself. Overall I love it a lot that I’m considering buying a back up. Worth a shot for anyone considering.

Don’t bother. My sister tried it on it on in the store and said she had no idea what body type this would fit and the quality was horrible and she is petite and tiny and couldn’t get it the large! NOT EVEN CLOSE to worth the 98$ price tag either no wonder they have been sitting on the shelves for months.

I was so looking forward to this dress, but when I opened the shipping bag and saw the color, I knew immediately it was not for me. The color is nothing like what is shown online. In the Nordstrom Rack review section someone posted photos and those show the accurate color. It is more of a grayish faded blue. It just doesn't work for my coloring. Otherwise, I like the dress.
