Samantha Butterfly Print Faux Wrap Maxi Dress

This is the most beautiful gown I've ever owned. The reviewer below mistakenly calls its fabric cheap & the butterflies 'ironed on.' She could not be more mistaken. The butterflies are flocked -- as in are slightly velvet, whereas the main fabric is a thin parachute silk. It is a very luxurious, expensive fabric. And yes, the butterflies glow or shine a bit -- somehow the myriad colors in a butterflies wings have been translated into the flocking of this fabric & they do put off an iridescence. It is stunning. As the below reviewer states, NO, you cannot wear a bra with this dress. It is meant to drape the body like a Roman goddesses' folds in an Elgin marble. But your breasts/girls/headlights WILL NOT SHOW. I wore this dress to the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby wherein for a good 10 hours I walked, danced, jumped about, slumped, posed & cheered & never did My Girls make an appearance. I am a very thin, size 2 & do not need a bra anyway sort of figure. I would wear it & be beautiful in it, no matter your size!! The lining is closely fitted & acts like a camisole -- I am 60 years old & would not have worn it in public if it was revealing or in any way inappropriate. Gorgeous Gown. Hems nicely. Every time I got up from my seat at the Derby I received a thousands & one compliments on this dress from every stranger passing by . . . . Thank you Alice & Olivia!

This dress had so much promise, but was disappointing in person. The butterflies are shiny and look ironed-on, which made the dress look inexpensive, as does the stark white layer under the dress that peeks out at the neckline. The sides of the dress are so low that you’ll need to tape up the girls if you need support because a strapless bra definitely shows. The movement of the fabric when walking is gorgeous and it feels like a dream. Just not worth the cost, in my opinion.
