Pilot Air^™ Elite 23" Expandable Carry-on Rollaboard Luggage

So disappointed in this bag. I already own a Travelpro platinum elite 22” carryon bag. On the elite, the bag itself (not counting handle or wheels) is a full 22” long, compared to this one’s 21”. If that were the only issue, it wouldn’t bother me. On this bag, the “expansion” is only partial. It has a decent sized extra pocket on the outside, but the bag overall just seems small, cheap and flimsy. I just ordered a 2nd Premium Elite online and will return this one. Yes, I will be paying about $150 more than the great sales price that I got on this bag, but this is DEFINITELY a textbook example of “you get what you pay for”! If you’re going to get a Travelpro carryon, I suggest biting the bullet and making it count, you will never be disappointed in their Platinum Elite bags.

Important to me this case definitely holds more than a 21inch international carry-on, partly because of the non taper of the extension and partly because the two Rollaboard wheels instead of four spinner wheels add space to the bottom of the case. Also, the rollaboard design works better for me than the spinner design because it loads the wrist less. Excellent quality.

I have not yet used it for travel, but I am giving it 5 stars because of its design and space. This one loads perfectly and expands from the bottom, therefore not top heavy. The interior lid pocket is usable! I have used travelpro before with great success. (I purchased a couple other brands in same size but the expansion on the top made them top heavy and would not stand unassisted. And the interior pocket on the top, was unusable except to hold a sheet of paper.)

Overall I would say this is one of the best rolling carry-ons. After looking for weeks online and in my local stores for good carry-on luggage without breaking the bank, I finally found this at Nordstrom Rack. I would rate it in the top 2% of what's available, especially at $125. I also had a $60 Nordstrom note to use, which made it even sweeter! I really wanted the 2-wheel design because for me it just works better. The ubiquitous 4-wheel cases can really do a number on your wrist when walking up and down airport ramps...which are everywhere these days. Also because of it's well-designed front feet, I also feel that this is less likely to tip over with another bag on top of it than any 4-wheel bag I've seen so far. This thing rolls like butter, zippers are smooth, the materials feel durable, and the overall look and design says quality. The telescoping handle also feels well made. My only gripe would be the 2 front storage areas didn't get the same attention to design as the rest. If you put anything but a large item in the large front pocket, it tends to fall to the bottom. Now that I'm thinking about it, a large packing cube may solve this issue. I'm sure a laptop would travel just fine there, provided you have it in a padded sleeve. Also, the smaller hidden zipper pocket at the top is not easy to get into if the bag is full. However, these are small potatoes in light of everything else. If possible, I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Highly Recommended.
