Nantucket Drift Penny Slip-On Loafer

I am so bummed out by these shoes. I absolutely love Cole Haan shoes; I own everything from sneakers to special occassion heels. I've owned some od my pairs for 20 years. They've been resoled and repaired, abd I've never thought twice about the cost because they're irreplaceable. It's one of the few brands I buy anymore because I always get something comfortable, classic, cute, and quality. I bought a pair of Nantucket loafers in black from Rack way back in 2019. They're the absolute best. At the time I was working a job where I averaged 20,000 steps in a shift, and I wore those loafers all the time. (Yes, those are the original soles, with probably 1000 miles on them!) I've known for years that I really should get a pair in brown too and finally did. These are not the same shoe in any way. The old ones had the Grand OS rubber sole; these are foam the thickness of flip-flops. The old ones have a super comfortable toe box; these narrow significantly. The old ones are definitely leather; I'm really dubious about the new ones, but maybe it's just because they're lined with gross synthetic fabric the way faux leather often is and the seams are thick and clunky looking. The whole shoe just feel cheap and gross--the kind of loafers you'd pick up for $15 at a big box store. The worst part is that I have such trust in the Cole Haan brand that I just immediately wore these out, so I can't even return them. I will try to make them work so I didn't waste $90, but these definitely are not what I was expecting.
