Newport H2 Hybrid Sandal

Wore Venice sandals until they disappeared, then Newports. Got the monochrome Newports for the first time and am baffled. I could barely get sz 8 on, a size slightly big for me. My 8's were less than a 1/2 size shorter on the sole in comparison to the 9. 5s. Shoe is shorter, narrower and the "roomy toe box" is now non-existent in both width but especially height . . . could barely fit my tiny toes in! I had to go all the way up to a 9. 5, as the 9 was still too narrow and short in the toe box! How do you take your classic sandal and change the sizing that drastically unless you don't hold your vendors to any standards at all? I hope you fix the toe box back to the way it was. If I could still hike, I'm sure I'd have to find something else to use, because the shorter height for the toes would certainly cause rubbing & blisters climbing up and down trails. OK if you size up 1-1. 5 sizes and you walk like a sore kneed 60 year old, but no longer any good for hiking or athletics.
