Long Sleeve Linen Shirtdress

The pictures do not reflect the dress at all. I love James Perse and really wanted to love this shirt dress. Ordered this online and when opening the package I was surprised by the size of the dress. It was HUGE, comically ginormous. When I put it on and tied a belt, the length was ok (short in front, long in back). The sleeves aren’t really long sleeves - more like an awkward dolman style. The sleeve cuffs are fitted but the sleeve itself is billowy and can be styled pushed up. But it was hard to style it so it didn’t look like a mini-skirted muumuu. It was final sale so unfortunately I can’t return it.

I ordered a size 1 (Small), which the size chart says is intended for a 33" bust. The actual shirt measures a full 31" across when laid flat, which means it's 62" around the chest. The amount of fabric is comically excessive, while the sleeves are surprisingly short. I’m 5'9", and they fall short of bracelet length. I can’t envision a way to style that looks chic or effortless; it simply overwhelms the wearer. Unfortunately, it was Final Sale, so I’m stuck with it. It’s a shame, because the linen itself is excellent: soft, nicely textured, and not too sheer. But buyers should be aware that the product information doesn't convey the actual proportions of this shirt.

I found this dress to be true to size, it’s a loose fitting over sized look with a dolman sleeve. Easy, cool, button up, Summer linen look. If you’re looking for a shirt dress, this isn’t it, but I love the look. Very happy with my purchase. Size down was suggested so I ordered both and preferred my normal James Perse sizing.

Looks like a tent when I wear it buttoned up, but it looks much better worn open as a summer layering piece. It’s very stylish, made from high-quality linen, and works well for creating effortless summer outfits.

I wear xl and got a 4 in black and 3 in white— returning both, gonna try a 2 and i suspect even this will be too big!

This shirt dress is absolutely enormous! I ordered a size 0 and had to send it back immediately. You could fit a whole army in there!
