Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20

Same review as many others - I loved this product for years, but sadly the new formulation with octocrylene is greasy and has a terrible smell. I’m not sure what motivated you to change the old formulation, but I hope you can bring it back. In the meantime I am switching to a new product.

This used to be my all time favorite and I’d always brag about it but it’s terrible since the formula changed. It smells like a mildew rag now and coats on thicker than normal. I thought it’d wear off but I smelled it on my face all day and had to wash my face to get rid of the smell. The perfect face moisturizer has been ruined. Please go back to the old formula or you’re going to continue getting complaints and requests to return items.

This used to be my holy-grail moisturizer. I used it every morning since starting my routine over four years ago, and I never thought of replacing it until last subscription refill. It still sunscreens like you expect the SPF grade to, and I suppose it still moisturizes my face; however, like many other recent reviewers, it leaves a greasy residue no matter how moderately I apply it. At first I chalked it up to overactive oil glands in the summertime heat, then I realized it no longer absorbs cleanly to begin with even in cooler climates. What's really intolerable is the burning sensation I've had in my eyes, which have almost felt like they were pepper-sprayed at times. At first I asked what I changed in my skincare routine to cause this—did I somehow start applying it too close to my eyes?—then I saw other reviews echoing the same and realized the FORMULA must have changed. Also, I've noticed white streaks under my eyes (in the tear-trough area) lately. Possibly just due to overapplying my eye cream (which coincided with this formula change), but now I'm seriously wondering if it has to do with the formula changes. I haven't registered any strong change of smell that others are reporting, but then again it could just be selective perception filtering it out as my nose does for most pungent smells I have to get used to. I'll still use other Jack Black products like their facial cleansers, but I'll have to hunt for alternative face moisturizer-SPF combos for now. I'd love to renew my subscription if you were to revert it to the older formula, but it sounds like that's off the table due to new regulatory compliances. I'd still consider it if you were able to fix the current formulation with legally usable ingredients, though it doesn't seem like that's in the offing. Nonetheless, I appreciate that you have enough integrity to keep all these negative reviews, even though the product's average rating has nosedived from them. You're owning up to the criticism, and I genuinely hope you'll successfully address it as you try refining this product.
