Better than Speedgoat 6
I own a lot of Hoka shoes, for every activity, in multiple colours. I wear them out long before they wear me out. For the Speedgoat Mid series I have a size 10 for winter use and a 9.5 for fall/spring (different sock application). I’m feeling my current size 10 to be losing a little of the plushness ( and I can see the lugs are half worn down) so I started the search. I read the reviews on the new Speedgoat Mid 6 and was dismayed by the criticism. Off to REI sporting goods to try and lo and behold, those reviews are on point. So I set out to find a tried and true Speedgoat Mid 5. Hallelujah, Nordstrom Rack. I would have preferred a pair with colour but beggars can’t be choosers. I’m happy to have them.

Not for me
Felt fine unlaced. After lacing up the ball of my foot started hurting almost immediately. I don’t have wide feet. Not sure why they felt so comfortable for me. Was very excited until I got on the trail. Ouch.

High top trail runners
After rolling an ankle trotting with my dogs on a trail, I was quite pleased to find a higher topped trail running shoe for a little more support. Now they are my favorite shoe for walking, trotting the trails or streets, especially when it’s cold and wet. The higher top keeps my ankles warm and comfortable. Love em.
