BLOOM Pour Over Coffee Brewer

Why did I wait so long to try pourover coffee? I have drank Nespresso for the last decade (almost) since it is convenient and fast. However, they quit making my favorite coffee capsule so I switched to french press. I love french press too but it can be a bit tedious to clean the press (lots of components to the filter/press). I only drink one cup of coffee per day (usually) so this is the perfect choice for me (instead of a more expensive and larger Chemex, etc). The most time consuming part is grinding the beans. The actual pourover and waiting for it drip doesn't take more than a couple minutes!

I'd say this is really about 2.5 stars. The flavor is good when the coffee finally does finish dripping, and I appreciate not having to buy filters. But unlike the previous reviewers I must say I didn't find it fast--the contrary, in fact. I use five scoops of beans for 14-16 oz of coffee, and that amount of grounds slows it down to the point of painful inaction. I have to stir the grounds and dislodge them from the bottom to keep the brew flowing, which is hardly convenient. Plus the cone holds less than 8 ounces including all those grounds, so it takes several minutes and repeated top-offs to get the all the water to finally pass through. (Who makes smaller cups of coffee any more?). I think I'll go back to my flatbottomed Melitta cone for my morning default and put this in the back of the drawer for when I run out of filters.
