I’ve been a loyal Nordstrom customer for years and often shop at both Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I used to enjoy shopping at your stores because of the great customer service and pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, that no longer the case. Recently, I had a disappointing experience at Nordstrom Rack in Tacoma with a staff member named Sarah F. I asked to have my return placed on a Nordstrom gift card so I could use the funds right away, instead of waiting 10–15 days for a refund to my bank account. At first, Sarah said this wasn’t possible. Then, without any further conversation, she suddenly said it was possible. Her behavior felt inconsistent. Then she seemed suspicious of my request, even though I showed her my receipts, the cards I used for purchase, and my Nordstrom account. I don’t know if this was due to poor training or something else, but it left me feeling uneasy. A few months earlier, I had a similar negative experience at Nordstrom in downtown Seattle. I was the only customer shopping on that floor, but the sales associate didn’t seem interested in helping me. It felt dismissive. I also noticed that Nordstrom sends surveys after online customer service chats, but never after in-store visits, even though the problems I’ve faced were all in person.
