Erma Waxed Cotton Jacket

Although this jacket is made in Moldova, it still has the great quality that Barbour is known for. However, it is different than their traditional waxed cotton jackets. I already have 2 Barbour waxed coats - a 17-year old classic Bedale and an inherited full-length mac, both made in England. They both utilize 6oz waxed cotton and are weighty. My Bedale can get even heavier when I zip in an insulated liner. This jacket utilizes 4oz waxed cotton which is 30% lighter. That could be why critics of this jacket deem it too thin. Unless you’re in a more temperate climate, this will not get you thru the winter as it is not insulated. However, the lighter weight does make it great for travel. Since I’m 5’2”, I do appreciate the shorter length on this although it doesn’t really give enough coverage for true rain protection. The sleeves are still too long even with turned back cuffs. The fit is generous. For reference, I take a 12-14 top, and a 14-16 bottom. A size 10 in this was plenty big enough. Overall, I would consider this more a fashion statement than a true rain jacket. Based upon that I’m just trying to convince myself that I really need it.

Barbour has great jackets love their quality. This is my 3rd waxed jacket can’t wait to wear this fall.

This is so cute. I love the wax coating and style. Can't wait to wear it this fall. I would say I am a size 6 in jackets but I ordered this in an 8 for more room for layering.

I've had my eye on this jacket for at least a year now, and was so excited to get it during the anniversary sale! Barbour US sizes used to run small, and I had to size up. In this jacket, I originally tried my usual size 6 but exchanged for a 4, which fits perfectly. I could have worn the 6 for an oversized look, but I'm petite and the sleeves were much too long. The 4 is less oversized but still has plenty of room to wear over winter clothes. I'm petite with short arms so I still have to turn up the sleeves, but the tartan cuffs look nice. The fabric is lighter weight than I expected, and the quality is amazing. The olive color goes with everything. This jacket works well for petites, though if you are very small or slim, you may want to size down.

The price doesn't match the quality. Fabric is super thin.
