Charge Expanse Trail Running Shoe (Men)

The shoe looked and fit great. Sadly, one of the nylon webbing eyelets for the laces was not sewn in at all on the underside. It had some type of sticky adhesive holding it down. It worked like a charm as it got the shoe out of the 60 day return window. I am not at all happy with the quality control. I am hoping this review will help to appease my concerns.

It's quite sad actually. These shoes have nice cushioning with some good bounce. Are stable and supportive. They fit well and have a roomy toebox for my not quite wide feet. But I don't get what they were thinking with the tongue. The upper is one piece. The lace eyelets are attached to the upper. It's all one piece. It's not even gusseted. Plus the material is stiff and there is zero padding in the tongue. You can't add a pad because the tongue bunches up when you tighten them up so the adhesive ends up failing. You really need to wear some thick sucks to make it tolerable. It's really a shame. The shoe does everything else right. We'll, outside of tur glued down insoles. Never understand why mfg's do that especially when they don't care about arch support in their design. Zero reason to glue down insoles. Thankfully a blow dryer and can warm up the adhesive and allow them to peel up and remove in one piece. Hence my replacement insoles fit in there. This will be the first pair of shoes I actually return in quite a long time. I don't understand how a premium pair of trail runners has a tongue like this. Makes no sense. Recovery and lifestyle shoes have tongues like that, not premium trail shoes .
