Barn Jacket

I have been On. The. Hunt. for the perfect barn jacket. I was giddy when I spotted this one out in the wild, at the rack, in my size! I tried it on with high hopes. I am 5'4" and 140 pounds, tried the S and M. The S looked best because it fit my proportions better but was slightly tight in shoulders. The M was roomy enough so I could wear a sweater underneath. The lining is a polyester quilted fabric. Outer is cotton chore jacket (hard) fabric like a Carhartt jacket. Collar is dark chocolate brown, jacket is basic muddy brown color. Lining is gold brown. Pluses: biggest plus by far is the pocket openings are slanted, which makes sense! Why are so many other barn jackets snap flap pockets that you have to put your hands in from the top? Quilted lining is a plus, although it's poly (plastic) and not down. Full zipper plus snaps are a plus, nice to have both options. Cons: Super boxy and stiff. Arms are cut too big, making me look way bigger than I am. I think the thing that ultimately killed it for me was the relentless brown. There isn't much of a contrast between the collar and the rest of the jacket. It's just a lot of brown and it's not that pretty of a brown. It did nothing for my skin tone and wasn't flattering. I really wanted this to work, especially at the great pricepoint (another plus!) But I didn't love it, so had to pass.

I was SO happy with this jacket when it arrived. I'd say its true to size as I'm a size 12 and ordered a large which is my typical jacket size. Delightfully surprised with how nicely lined it was and its a little padded so it really keeps you warm. Feels great to wear. Will be great for colder weather- cant wait!
