The Doux is the one for me
I bought this in November but have started it using it this week. When I tell you this gel has the waves in my slick back so shiny, so juicy and hydrated I always get complimented. When I paired it with Honey condish BABY, GAME OVER!! My family thought I did a wash and go, it had my hair so hydrated and moisturized my mom still thought my hair was wet. The definition, the movement, the smell its 10s across the board for me. Everytime I think I've found my products I find something better but I'mma stick beside The Doux!! Everything I've tried has been top ten! I consider my hair both coily and curly, I say in the 4 family my daughter says 3c to 4a.

The product flakes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 808 Bass gel by the Doux is definitely not my favorite . I do like the smell of the gel and that’s really the only thing I liked. I started off on freshly washed hair and used the 808 base gel with a pump of the texture foam . I really liked the definition that I have with the 808 base gel but it flaked so a lot . I also think I may have used to much product so I tried again with a curl definer. Both times the product flaked . I would not buy this product.

Hi there! If you ever experience flaking, this just means that your hair may have had some left-over product or conditioner on or near the scalp before applying our styler. For best results, make sure that your hair is completely clean, no oils or leave-ins. Next time you try our styler you should be good to go! Impressive
Excellent curl definition and soft hold on my coily type 4c hair. Also my hair was super shiny and a little goes a long way!
The only downside for me was the product fragrance is too strong very overpowering… someone described a grape smell in my office.. its very strong fragrance for a hair product.

Not for me. Tangles galore
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not like this base gel lol I don’t know what it is but my hair will be super soft and detangled and once I add this it would feel dry and matted. And I never know what I’m doing wrong. I follow the instructions, I’ve tried it on damp hair, soaking wet hair, never dry hair because that would be a nightmare. I tried putting another base gel underneath (which was better actually). I would even put mousse def first (which would define my curls) and then adding this and that was also a nightmare. I love the scent, though it is a bit strong. But this product just wasn’t for me.
Oh and it flaked with just the 808 and mousse def

Base for comb coils
I have short 4C hair that breaks easily so I picked up the 808 base gel and I’ve been using it to do comb coils. I love that. It’s just enough slick to get through my hair easily and detangles it while doing the comb coils. The coils last, they have shine And instead of frizzing on the ends it curls right up.

808 BASE GEL - TOP TIER
The 808 Base Gel is absolutely EVERYTHING for my hair type! It give me the most definition and shine/sheen to my hair. I pair it with Mousse Def and the combination is top shelf. My curls have never looked so beautiful and I implore your company to NEVER stop making these products or change the formula!!!

Great medium hold gel
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The DOUX 808 base gel is a styler for a multitude of styles such as Wash n Gos, braid outs, twist outs, and loose hair styles like TWAs. I appreciate its plentiful amount of product because hair gels have only gotten more smaller per package. I’ve used the DOUX mousse original, but not the gel. I used the gel and mousse for a twist out. The honey, slippery elm, and marshmallow root promise a secure but hydrated hold and I can agree with that. It detangled smoothly and its viscous texture wasn’t too dense. I followed what was advised by Doux, apply on wet hair, no oils first. So my LCO was gel, mousse, and pumpkin oil. I have low porosity high density coily+kinky hair and am prone to buildup. This gel was great for a light hold and it didn’t crunch up my hair even after colder weather fronts and lasted till the end of the week. Which is when I personally like to wear my twist out - out. I will say I did get dryness on my hair, I’m going to attribute that more to the mousse because when I used another product I didn’t get that dehydration so soon.
