I was on my way to a big box store but as I entered the parking lot, there was Nordstrom Rack. I recently had all my shoes and boots stolen and something made me decide to see what I could find in the shoe department that was 100% leather. It was a long shot since it's mid-March but I took a chance. I have special needs and can wear only wide toe-box shoes and boots and I have to put a lift inside right shoes. The Shoe Goddesses were smiling that day: in my size, wide toe box leather boots that felt comfortable immediately. I'm glad I found them; they are very similar to the ones that were stolen: low heels, wide width and tall enough to hide my all the scars on my right leg from being broken in 4 places in a car vs. motorcycle in 1970. I lost, btw but now I have some comfortable boots again and they were on sale since winter is over where I live. I also bought the Pippen Square Toe Boots that are similar the stolen ones and are just as comfortable. I do wonder what my ex-husband is doing wearing my shoes, boots, coats, scarves, gloves and all the other things he stole but I certainly won't be asking him! Thank you Nordstrom Rack!

I purchased these in December for a trip to Europe and was pleasantly surprised by their performance in the cold. For a dressy shoe, the traction is actually quite good; I only had minor slips on snow and felt relatively secure. They are also surprisingly warm in sub-zero temps for short 30-minute walks. However, there are two major downsides. First, the chemical smell. I initially thought it was the scent of leather, but four different family members commented on a harsh, treated chemical odor when I took them off in their homes. Two months later, the smell still lingers. Second, if you have a high arch or a curved heel, these are nearly impossible to put on. Even with a shoe horn, I struggled significantly every time. They look cool once they’re on, but be prepared for the struggle and the scent.
