Running Shorts

Right out of the gate these shorts feel fairly stiff. However, after a handful of runs and washes, the material does soften up, which is a good thing. The entire back side of the short is made with perforated material, which makes it a very breathable option on warm days, but the length covers the front of the legs just enough on chillier days. The rear pocket does not have a zipper which also makes them ideal for yoga shorts if you’re doing floor poses and don’t like a metal piece sticking you in your lower back. Since the pocket does not have a zipper, it doesn’t hold things very securely, but if you’re using a running vest or a waste belt, then this would be the perfect combo for that.

If you are buying these shorts to head to the gym, and perhaps by a cold drink when finished, these are not the shorts for you. There is no secure pocket (most shorts have at least one in the front.) There is a pocket on the tailbone that does not zip ideal for your keys, one credit card, or mini-smurf figurine to fall out (the pocket is also not generous).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'd give these shorts 5 stars if they weren't made in China. Pros: (1) The lack of a bunching waistband. (2) The smooth, lightweight nylon material. (3) The athletic fit. (4) No needless pockets--nothing in my pockets when working out. Pockets degrade from the human form. Cons: (1) Made in China. (2) Pointless faux-fly.
