There is a closing mechanism!!
The other reviews are simply inaccurate, the small metal piece shown at the hip of the earring hinges open and closed. There is no need to bend the earring itself.

A definite NO
As the other reviewer noted, there is no mechanism to open/close. The comments in that review say it all; not worth the cost considering they will likely fracture eventually due to twisting them repeatedly. Will be returning.

Poor closure design
There's no mechanism to open and close the earring - it works by bending the entire hoop to open it and then bending the entire hoop to "close" it (quotes around "close" because there's no catch so it's just semi-closed). With this design of closure, upon first wear the earring will be wonky shaped and never a perfect circle again. The price is not justified - the design is insecure and opening and closing the earring for wear immediately destroys the structural integrity of the earring. I imagine that repeated bending to open and close will also weaken the ring so that in time, it will inevitably snap, though this is just speculation - I do not intend to keep it long enough to find out.
