Moab Speed 2 Gore-Tex^® Hiking Shoe (Men)

My first pair of Merrell shoes. I purchased for what was expected to be a very rainy trip to the east coast where I am typically outside, commuting on foot - regardless of weather. I have always relied on La Sportiva to keep me covered for this type of use case. However, I thought I would give Merrell a try on this occasion. I wear a size 12 for all my shoes. Regardless of brand. About the 2nd day into my trip, I started to notice a good deal of discomfort from my big toes while in the shoe. The trip was only 6 days. By day 3, I could barely walk without pain from my big toes in the Speed 2 Gore-Tex BL 1 TRL. I've never had to wear a 12.5 and these shoes don't even come in that size. They're great looking shoes and they certainly protect from the elements. Don't understand what's going on with the toe box, however, but I now have a black mark on my left big toenail as a result of wearing these shoes.
