great denim shorts
I definitely agree with the mixed reviews. Some say to order 2 sizes up some say they fit with their regular size. I purchased both a size up and a size down. Lucky me, I have to try on everything not one brand size fits me the exact same in other products by the same brand. I have smaller legs/thighs, not a large backside but I have wide hips so what fits comfortably in the waist/hip is not flattering in the legs). I really like these shorts they get 5 stars even if they don’t fit my body type the way I prefer. Fortunately rack allows for returns so I can return them and try another style.

Ran small on me
Madewell is too inconsistent with their sizing. I fit great in a size 30 jean but then I get the size 30 shorts and can hardly breathe.

I ordered my normal size and like the fit, they stretch out some but are definitely on the relaxed side. The rise and leg opening are just right. I will say that the fraying looks totally different than the photo - it looks more raw/DIY.
