Technic Volvo L120 Electric Wheel Loader 42209

Inject this into my veins. Need more heavy equipment technic builds. Incredible experience all around <3

I just started thibuild and I am already enjoying it

I bought this set because I was very excited when it was released. When I received it in the mail, I was very excited to begin building it, as I had worked hard to save money to buy it. A little bit into the building of the set, I realized a critical piece was missing from the bag. I looked all over and checked in the bags, but it was not there. This is majorly disappointing because without it, I could not continue to build the model. This has not been the first time this has happened, as last year, I purchased the 42175 Volvo FMX and EC230 set and it was also missing a piece, but it was a simple and non-critical component, unlike the piece I am missing from this set which is an important part that controls multiple features on the model. On top of that, it will take up to two weeks for LEGO to send me a replacement piece. This is unacceptable for 2 sets that I have purchased to be missing pieces, as LEGO has a high quality control. I have been a fan of their products for a very long time and this has not happened until these two particular incidents. This is very unfortunate and I will have to wait for my replacement to finish and enjoy this set.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My truck loving son was SO excited to get this. I love how great the instructions were and the final truck seems pretty sturdy. A little worried with the tiny pieces for my toddler but just had to be aware.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was such a fun build, I love the pieces that move and the real tires. The only thing I don’t love about the Technic series is that in my opinion the sides being open the way they are makes it look “not done” almost. Otherwise it was a really fun build and was just under 1000 pieces.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 12 year old nephew eagerly put this set together. He said that on a scale of 1-10, he rated it a 3 on difficulty. He enjoyed putting it together with the only criticism was a couple of the directions were a little confusing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you love heavy machinery and building things brick by brick, the LEGO Technic Volvo L120H Wheel Loader is a must-have. This set delivers a perfect blend of engineering detail and hands-on fun. From the moment you open the box, it’s clear this isn’t just a toy—it’s a tribute to one of Volvo’s most iconic construction machines. The build itself is incredibly satisfying. LEGO really nailed the proportions and mechanics of the real-life L120H. The articulated steering, functioning boom, and bucket movement give you that real-machine feel, especially if you’re into how these giants work in the real world. The way the gears and pneumatics come together feels like a mini engineering lesson—and that’s part of the fun. Visually, it’s a beast. The yellow and black color scheme pops, and the details like the cabin controls and the tires are spot-on. Once built, it looks fantastic on a shelf or desk—but it’s sturdy enough for some play, too. What really sets this set apart is how immersive it feels. Whether you’re a construction machinery enthusiast or a longtime LEGO Technic fan, you’ll appreciate the thoughtful design, the complexity of the functions, and the overall experience. It’s not just a model; it’s a working replica. Highly recommended for anyone who finds joy in machines, building, and the beautiful fusion of the two.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LEGO Technic Volvo FMX Truck is a detailed and robust build that replicates the real-world heavy-duty Volvo construction vehicle. My husband and I really enjoyed building this Lego and I was actually so surprised that it operates! It can forward/reverse, steer, and has the lift mechanism. Feels immersive and adds serious play value. It’s definitely a rewarding build for intermediate to advanced LEGO fans. Internal gear mechanisms, differential system, and suspension offer a great introduction to mechanical engineering.

This is not a motorized loader so be aware if purchasing but that'd make it even better then 5 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have built numerous legos over the years and this is impressive! More features than the average. It’s cool enough for adults and kids to share. Good bonding activity.

Had a blast putting this together with my 4 year old son. Can't wait for the next one

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What fun! We were so excited to receive this Lego set. My son started it right away! I love the complexity of the Technic kits and how they create high quality, functional models. They work well and seem to stay together. There are many pieces so it needs to be kept away from little ones, but that also means the fun is endless!
