Cool of the Night Cardigan

This sweater is super soft and I hope I like it. The sizing is very off. It says fits true to size, but my normal size medium was absolutely huge on me. Five inches too long in the sleeve, was much longer on me than on the model, shoulders didn’t fit, etc. I am a petite 5’2”, but I was shocked. I have reordered in an extra small and hopefully it will be what I want.

My search for the perfect oversized black cardigan continues. The thing that sold me on this was the buttons, which appear online as black framed in silver. It's been surprisingly difficult to find a nice soft relaxed cardigan with black buttons, and I thought the silver was a unique touch. The actual buttons, however, are brown/wooden-looking with no silver. I see online the lilac colored sweater has white buttons, also framed in silver (in real life who knows), but the mocha sweater has lighter brown buttons (no silver), which I'm guessing are accurate. I am between sizes right now, I bought both a large and medium. The sizes are nearly identical but the large is maybe an inch longer in the sleeves, and Free People always has crazy long sleeves anyway, so maybe that is important to note. My chest is fairly large (34J) and both sizes covered them and had no trouble fastening without puckering, so really it comes down to sleeve length. The only other minor thing that annoys me is that the bright yellow thread they used to attach the tag and seam cover in the back peeks through in some spots. This wouldn't bother me except I would expect a sweater with these issues to cost a lot less. That said, it's a cute enough fit, and very soft and comfy. If you are like me and counting on those buttons though ... don't! Lol. If this was a $60 or even $80 cardigan I would happily keep it, but I'm not sure if it's worth the cost with these unexpected little flaws.
