Allona Embroidered Cocktail Dress

It’s pretty but would look better on a taller woman. I’m 5’4” and it hits at a really strange length at mid calf. I’m in between a small and medium with a somewhat athletic build. It is not a fabric with any give so the medium was best for me especially sitting. I ultimately returned because even with pumps it was just at a strange unflattering length

This dress was better than expected. The embroidery is quite nice and the tulle/mesh is not distracting or scratchy. I usually wear a L and I’ll say the XL is a perfect fit in hips, waist, torso and chest, so consider sizing up. The shape accentuates curves and is flattering- the skirt truly does have the flare that’s shown in the photo. The only cheapy thing are the straps - they’re adjustable and I think that looks weird on such an embellished dress (it’s not a cami or a bra!) Because I like it so much and will wear it again, I’m going to remove that part of the straps and perhaps add a little elastic inside a new strap to make on/off easier. This dress is great for a wedding, spring or summer cocktail, or other special event.
