Tiered Stretch Cotton Maxi Dress

I typically wear a size 2-4 dress (2 if I want to be tight, 4 if I want to be comfy). I ordered a small and I was swimming in it. This is not a form fitting dress. The length was great, but the waist is sooo wide. There were at least 8 inches of extra fabric. I tried to make it work by using claw clips on the back to bunch the dress together decoratively, and while it made it look more form fitting, it wasn’t great and it made the inside seam feel more noticeable. That seam that connects the top to the skirt is scratchy; there is some plastic running along it there for some reason. The fabric itself is nice and thick, and I love the deep pockets. I’m sure I could take this in and have it tailored, but I’m not sure the outcome would be worth the cost.
