Ruffle Sleeve Cotton Dress

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dress runs large and is shorter in front than in the back. I bought it in two colors, black and light green. The light green is not an attractive color but I don’t wear it in public so I don’t care. I wanted it because it is soft cotton, loose, and comfortable for around the house. In my early 60s and at 5’ 8" this dress in any color is too short for me to wear in public, and it’s shrunk some with washings so it’s only become shorter. I knew it was too short when I bought it though so that’s not a complaint (except for the shrinking part). The dress is kind of frumpy but comfortable for hanging out at home and doing housework. I’m giving this dress only two stars because of poor quality construction. The green earns the two stars because it is better made than the black dress; the sewing is only semi-bad on the green dress. The black dress deserves only one star or less because the sewing is Terrible. I didn’t see the problems until I was home and too far away to bother with returning the dress. There is soft plasticky lining all along the seams that is visible on Both sides of the seams, inside and out. I can’t remove it without tearing the seams completely apart because it’s actually sewn into the fabric. It looks like the cutting and sewing was so fast and haphazard that soft plasticky stuff showing where sewing should happen was just left there. Such sloppy construction should never have made it into Nordstrom for customers to see let alone purchase by accident.

I'm 5'3", 173 lbs and am wearing size Large. I usually wear size XL, but this dress is roomy. The front hemline is a little shorter than the back. It hits above the knee in the front and to the knee in the back. The neckline is little low and the split tends to flop open rather than lying flat. I plan to sew together the two top corners of the neckline and give the neckline a keyhole look so it will look more finished when wearing. Overall, great price for easy summer comfort.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dress is light, airy and super comfy! It runs a little big since it IS meant to have a loose and flowy fit. It's made from a cool, breathable cotton and the length is perfect, hits a little above the knee (I'm 5'9" and ordered a medium). Perfect for a casual picnic at the park with some cute sandals or you can dress it up a little more with some nice wedge espadrilles.
