Douglass Leather Sneaker (Men)

I'm a big fan of Brooks Brothers and own quite a bit of their clothing—though this was my first pair of shoes from them. The fit is spot-on (I'm a size 11), and the anatomic insole is very comfortable. The sneakers look high-end and feel solidly made—definitely a step above similar models from Bruno Magli, Ecco, and Ted Baker in terms of build quality. However, the dealbreaker for me was the faux leather upper. While it looks great out of the box, in my experience, synthetic leather doesn't hold up over time. I've had several pairs from other brands with faux leather, and they all started cracking and peeling after 5–6 months of moderate wear. Unfortunately, that’s just the nature of synthetic material. I’ve had my genuine leather Prada sneakers for years, and they’re still going strong. There’s a reason true leather shoes usually start at $400+. So while these are beautifully designed and well-constructed sneakers, I returned them purely because of the material. If you’re okay with faux leather, they’re a great buy. But for long-term durability, genuine leather is still unmatched.
