Authentic Original Boat Shoe

What’s going on at Sperry? I’ve noticed a decline in quality over recent years. The materials, quality and fit are all off from the “authentic” shoe of yesteryear. The materials on this shoe feel rubbery and the length is a smidge short. I don’t comment on width too often because my feet are on the narrow side, but these looked minnie mouse wide on me. It would be great if Sperry had maintained their quality standards since my first pair of topsiders in high school, but…no. I have pair of a different Sperry style I purchased a couple of years ago. They were uncomfortable out of the box…short in the toe and rough canvas…but thought they’d break in. They didn’t….but my feet did, and I had to make a band aid run. I never wore them again. Lesson learned. It’s a shame because they’re cute. I’m not doing this again.
