The photos shown for this item in the description of it being 100% merino wool is inaccurate and false. The photo shown is for a more recent item that is actually 100% wool – I’ve seen it in Nordstrom regular retail stores. The sweater I was sent from Nordstrom Rack is actually polyester in the front half and only wool in the back. This is incredibly misleading and borderline fraudulent! The black sweater I received is much closer in appearance to the green sweater shown.

I too expected this to be an all-merino vest, so was initially disappointed when I pulled it out of my NordRack box. Shock more aptly describes my reaction upon discovering the whole front piece was shiny brown polyester. Ugh! was my initial response. I got the Tarmac Green earth tone color block vest. The whole vest, the poly and merino together, is incredibly lightweight, which makes for easy layering in the temperate Northern CA climate I live in. The shininess of the front isn’t too obvious when worn. In fact, maybe it makes all the earth tones just a little less oppressive? I got size Small, which is very over-sized on me, but wearable. A big relief after struggling recently with many huge weighty Smalls from another brand, with initials FP. Later this year, during the 2 days of actual cool-coldish weather we have here annually, I may be a tiny bit sorry my ensemble is so light, but I can layer on my heavier stuff then. For now, this color scheme and fabric volume lets me LOOK like fall without dressing myself in sweltering layers. For me, it’s 5 stars!
