Illusion Sleeve Embroidered Midi Dress

I am very pleased with this dress for my daughter’s wedding. I had a hard time finding the right dress in size 6 petite. After sending other dresses back due to poor quality and terrible fit, I responded to a Nordstrom ad with my fingers crossed. The dress is perfect. The material is of a nice weight, not chintzy at all. It even makes me look slender. I’m 5’2”, 125 lbs. I will surely check Nordstrom next time I need an outfit. Thank goodness my search is done!

I ordered this dress in the Ice Sage color. The color is not the same as depicted in the photos on the website, which appeared to me to be much lighter, and more of an aqua pastel. Instead, it is darker and more dusky (although not dark). So that was the first disappointment. The second disappointment: I wear a petite size, so the proportions should be adjusted accordingly. With this dress, the top front is acceptable, but the top back length is too long; it bulges outward instead of laying flat. To look properly in it, I would need to take it for alterations, and at my own cost. This should not be the case. But, I do like the style, and the color is still good for me, so I am tempted to keep it and get it altered. I will probably have the length shortened a bit as well, as I prefer a length just below my knee, and it's hard to find that length available anywhere. I also considered the lavender color, but I'm sure it, too, would be darker in person.
