Corduroy Bow Strap Overalls Midi Dress

for starters, i love a pinafore style dress; especially in heavy fabric like corduroy and in longer lengths because i'm tall. this synthetic corduroy is on the lightweight side and has stretch, and the dress fit a lot looser than i thought. i probably could go down a size for a more fitted look but the extra room will allow me to wear sweaters. while opening up the plastic bag that contained my dress, i was completely shocked by the industrial odor that accosted my nose. i can only describe it as a muted mothball smell that i've learned to associate with cheap fabrics (clothing, furniture, etc.) and was surprised to find my nordstrom order had it too. i really like the dress (especially the length and color) and i'm hoping the smell goes away after washing. the only two complaints i have are the bows and the bra rings (in the straps). the bows are distracting and to me, they're not as nice looking compared to the model photo. i'll probably try to remove the bows and maybe replace with a different color, buttons or embroidery. also, the bra rings used are metal which is good, however i found the straps difficult to adjust. i'm hoping this means the straps stay in place and won't need to be adjusted. although i like the dress, i'm only giving it 3/5 stars because of the odor, the lack of real corduroy fabric and the difficulty adjusting the straps.
