Pilled quickly

I thought this was a nice light cardigan to throw over dresses or tank tops in the summer. It's really soft and the fit is nice. Unfortunately, after a few wears the back is all pilled, I assume from rubbing against my office chair or car seat. I haven't even washed it yet and it's already ruined. Unacceptable at this price point, I expect better from Vince, but maybe this is meant for off-price.
