Ultrabraid XL Brim Straw Sun Hat

I'm going to a day at the horse races and needed that quintessential Kentucky Derby-style statement hat. Not being from Kentucky, I didn't want to splurge on something I'd only wear once. Enter this beauty! It's a fabulous sun hat checking all the boxes of being big, floppy, and definitely makes a statement. Versatile enough to wear to a pool party or spruce up for a Derby bash. I was so excited, I couldn't wait to take a photo in my work parking lot. Excuse the garage background because it's all about the hat!

First, I look ridiculous in brimmed hats. Other than a baseball cap, I stick to wearing sun hats when no one else can see me - as much as possible. But, UV damage such that is. And, being middle aged such as it is requires sun protection. I've had many hats, all ridiculous, but generally fine. However, I just never feel like they really do that much beyond shade my face. Not. This. Hat. This comically large-brimmed hat is PERFECTION. IDK how going bigger made me look a wee bit less ridiculous - but my GFs agreed. This was the best of the bunch. And, .... AND, ... the shade coverage! It's so big that I can go w/o sunglasses as long as the sun isn't too low. It covers my face/chest AND does a good job on my back up to about my shoulders. Coverage does depend on how you angle it, which you'll have to do towards the back a bit or it might impede vision. Watch out - you'll run into door jams if you're not careful. Depending on your height and the depth of the water, you will dip the back of the brim into the water. Final note - we breed large-headed humans in my family. And, this fits me quite well. There is a limited but of adjustability via tiny drawstring inside. But, based on my head - if you know your head runs on the smaller side for hats. This may not work for you. Which is a shame, because it's awesome.
