Two-Tone Amethyst Ring

This is a one-of-a-kind look that will catch the eye of anyone who loves the color purple. The outer prongs are blackened so it gives it a darker contrast to the appearance. The band is comfortable although I would say it runs slightly large (not quite a full quarter size larger but somewhat bigger than other rings I own in the same size). The low-profile design fits my taste. In general, I dislike rings that stick up high on the finger and catch on things. That said, the bypass design seems rather flat. The band isn't warped but the picture suggests more of an overlap. In real life the upper and lower half of the bypass/twist don't really appear to pass under/over, which leaves me on the fence between rating it three stars vs. four. In sunlight this ring really shines but in low light (indoors) the look of the ring is notable mainly for the strong color statement. I find that unlike many rings I have to match this to what I am wearing. It is well made although I do expect that eventually the oxidized (black) prong tips surrounding the darker amethysts will wear off as that is my experience with metal coatings of this type. I don't expect that to be an issue for occasional use but for those who like to sleep/shower in their rings, it is something to keep in mind.
