Karelle Water Repellent 700 Fill Power Down Puffer Coat

Full disclosure: I live in SoCal but bought this jacket bc I’m a wimp when it comes traveling to Seattle/Canada for work. The jacket keeps me warm and toasty and it’s the perfect length. I’ve never found the hood to fall down or feathers poke out. No regrets, I really love this form-fitting jacket.

This is a very stylish coat/ has a very unique style that you don’t see with many coats —to have an asymmetrical zip with a high collar wrap hood. And it’s surprisingly warm. I wore it in 40° weather in New York City with Highwinds and did not feel cold. The pockets are delicately made as they’re not integral to the inside of the coat. They’re kind of attached inside, but they’re filled with down so they’re like little down cloud pockets, cozy to put your hands in, even though delicately attached. However, if I wanted a very warm coat, you would need a wind blocker plus a high amount of down; plus a deep snug, tight hood; and this wouldn’t be the choice. This coat has its place for a stylish event. Or easily packable for a flight;it’s also fine for short excursions in and out of the car shopping etc.. I think I fell in love with this style;it makes you feel very stylish. Yes it’s an amazing hood. In the sense that when it’s down it’s really up high around your neck still, and keeps you nice and warm. The hood will not staybon in high winds. But I don’t think that the coat overall was made for that type of wind/cold. It’s made for style/ stylish, which isn’t always practical. Use for all elements of weather. Does any one coat work in all situations? So I give it high marks for style. I also give it fairly great marks for decent warmth…where it fails: I have to agree with other reviews is perhaps the quality; this is my first coat from this company so I can’t compare it to prior years, but it does leak more feathers than you would expect for a down coat. All down coats, will leak some feathers, but from the beginning this regularly leaks feathers, not many, maybe one or two a day! Also, the type of feather, it leaks isn’t the best quality down. It’s not the widest down or the fattest down feathers, instead the long thin type. However, given all of that for the fairly good warmth and for the high style components, it has a place in my closet!
