Hinoki is a type of Japanese cypress renowned for its beauty as well as its delicate, natural fragrance. Used in a cutting board, this medium-soft wood “gives” as you cut, helping to preserve the edges of your fine Shun cutlery. Quite simply put, hinoki is the perfect cutting surface for all your Shun knives. This larger size offers the right surface for all general-purpose cooking tasks. This board also features a handy juice groove around the edge of the board so juice gets caught in the groove for less mess and easy clean up. The wood for Shun’s hinoki products is grown in Japan and is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified for sustainable forest management practices. In addition, all our hinoki products are made from wood resulting from forest thinning, which is required to maintain healthy growth.

Already uneven
The day I’ve brought this board home from the store I washed it and it got uneven. I used mild soap, soft sponge and warm water then towel dried it. It did straitened up for a while and now it is uneven again for weeks, staying that way. Very disappointed and will not buy from this company again. It is a shame bacause I love its color, aroma, size and weight.

Excellent cutting board
My husband is so happy with his humility cutting board. The size is extra large for big meals. Light weight for its size. It won’t damage our knives. And, the color goes with most decor. We bought extra large sticky rubber feet so it’s non slip. Great buy!

This is the perfect size
This is the perfect size for carving meat & with the groove around it catches all the juices. The oil we purchased keeps it a beautiful color

Other than some staining it
Other than some staining it is a wonderful cutting board. Will probably buy a second one in the near future.

Hi Robert, Thank you for the comments and rating, we appreciate it! To minimize staining on your Hinoki board, lightly dampen the cutting surface before cutting. If not and staining occurs, cut a lemon in half and rub it on the surface of the board. Will help remove some staining. Hope this helps!
