Jumpstart Slip-On Sneaker (Women)

These are my second pair of Ryka mesh sneakers; I ordered an 8 last year (Velcro flaps) and they were a bit short at the toe for cushioned socks. The 8.5 is perfect barefoot or with a nylon stocking. Wearing a thicker cotton footie is pushing isnt uncomfortable. But with an orthotic? (Which I have, but does not fit in most of my shoes.) Probably should have ordered a full size up (9). But I got these at such a discount (Nordy promo & other adjustment) that I’m happy with them. They fit my feet well, but I have narrow heels & ankles and low arches, If you have wide feet, this shoe will probably be too narrow, at least at the heel. There is no lining, so you feel every seam. And if you wear these in sand or l dirt…ugh. There is arch support in the form of an EVA? pad that extends quite far up the inside—a good idea, so your foot doesn’t feel the ridge where it ends like in other makers’ shoes. Other issue (for me only): because the upper is stretchy mesh fabric, my right foot doesn’t get the support it would otherwise with a lined, leather upper. Consequently, my foot supinates (turns outward) due to an old ankle injury that I never got seen to, and it must have healed slightly off. When I put these shoes on and looked down, I could SEE the way the right foot supinates outward, bc I can see more of the inside EVA sole on that foot than on the left foot. I am VERY glad I ordered up a half size, but I knocked 1 star off for the delivery nightmare and delay caused by N sending the wrong shoes 2x, Even this 3rd pair arrived in a battered box w/o a lid, no tissue paper cushioning the shoes—just banging around in a dented box in a tough plastic bag. I finally got (them after almost 4 weeks (2 additional weeks’ delay due to 2 wrong pairs sent).: I first ordered (blue) when it was on sale on Nordstrom online, but received black, LACE-UP style, wrong size, WORN, with RACK store stickers on the sole, not Nordstrom.. When I called CS, was told it was out of stock. A few days later I happened to see the same shoe suddenly available on Nordstrom Rack online—at a higher, ‘regular’ price. I called CS to order AGAIN, explaining events; rep said the disappearance on N then reappearance on NR must have happened at the time N warehouse inventory was transferred to NR. Makes sense, but it was bizarre and took weeks to sort out, not to mention depriving me of the shoes for 1/6 of the summer. Nordstrom needs to figure out a way to improve inventory/warehouse operations, bc I don’t recall it ever being this problematic before. Still, all in all, I’m happy that there is a NR, that the CS rep was so helpful, and that I finally received my shoes.;) (Albeit in a box w/no lid!)
