Ester Mixed Houndstooth Plaid Long Sleeve Swing Dress

I loved everything about this dress. The fabric is amazing. Soft and flowing. I usually wear a size 4 and this size 4 fit perfectly. I was disappointed that the dress arrived balled up in an envelope mailer. It looked like a wrinkled rag. I hung it up on a hanger and was amazed that all the wrinkles disappeared overnight. A great travel piece.

The dress is lovely but I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping it. Pros: lovely, soft, flowy fabric. Cute 60’s mod style. Looks adorable with boots. Can wear belted or loose. I would choose to wear it unbelted. Pockets are always a plus for me. Cons: the print causes several illusions. It just might be me but in the pics it looks pleated. It is not. There’s also a side pattern that goes in a different direction that can give the illusion of wide hips or accentuate actual wide hips. The biggest offense in my opinion is the back opening that goes past the bra. It seems totally unnecessary. If you’re a person who must wear a bra this might be an issue. The long neck tie does cover it but potentially the bra could show. I’m 5’4” 120 lbs hourglass. I’m post menopausal and although I can get away with a form fitted dress, I’m now more comfortable in loose flowing styles. And for this reason I may try and make it work with an alteration to the back opening if possible. My only other concern was about the length but with tights and boots it’s not an issue and also because of my height. It hits about an inch above my knee.
