About 5+ years ago, I purchased a pair that look almost exactly like these and LOVED them. Wore them until they turned to dust. I had to get another pair, but Vince didn’t make them two years ago. I saw this new version during the anniversary sale and couldn’t smash the purchase button fast enough. Sadly, they are nothing like the original ones as far as quality and comfort are concerned. These are stiff and don’t have that shock absorption from the tiny strip of rubber on the ball of the feet, which is a huge issue for people who want the day-to-night bootie or just appreciate an every day shoe. The leather is extremely stiff almost like a hardened paper mache and doesn’t seem like it will give much over time. I’m a seasoned vet when it comes to a leather or faux leather shoe. The original pair had a seam down the middle of the shoe as well, and I’m no cobbler, but that somehow gives some flexibility as you break a pair of heeled booties in. Anyway, I’m going to give it my best shot at breaking them in but miss the immediate soft feel and walkable comfort of the originals.
