Classic Wool Blend Peacoat

I found this coat online and liked everything I read about it—except I was unsure about the sizing based on the reviews. So, I visited a local store to try it on. The size 6 felt very tight in the chest, even though I typically wear a size 2 or 4 depending on the style and cut. The most surprising part, however, was the fabric composition. The label in-store listed the coat as 60% wool, 35% nylon, and 5% other fibers—quite different from the website's claim of 95% wool and 5% nylon. Such high percentage of nylon will likely lead to significant pilling. I'm so glad I checked the label before making a purchase. The original price is $895, which seems extremely high for a coat that's only 60% wool.

I usually wear tops in size 4 or Small, but I couldn’t button the top button of this coat in size 4, could barely squeeze into size 6, was tight across the shoulders and chest in size 8 and finally fit in size 10, although the lower part of the coat was pretty loose. It’s a lovely coat, soft and well made, but if you’re focused on the size and not the fit, you’ll be disappointed. Size, like age, is just a number.

This coat is an all around absolutely beautiful soft winter coat. Such a great deal too! I don’t understand the other reviews on sizing, as I thought the sizing was perfectly in line with what I’d expect. In fact a little bit big; I believe the cost is supposed to be a little “swingy” at the bottom. Also, it says in the name of the product that it is a wool blend so the fact it isn’t 100% makes sense. In fact, I really appreciate whatever the combination is - it makes it incredibly soft. I think the coat looks and feels expensive in person. I am super glad I bought it!
