Flared Belted Wool Blend Trench Coat

I LOVE this coat! Excellent quality and it fits perfectly. I had read the reviews about it having an odor so I was expecting it and had intended to have to take it to the cleaners immediately but it had NO odor. I almost didn’t purchase it because of the multiple odor reviews and would have missed out on such a beautiful coat

I was looking for a stylish lined wool coat for late fall and early winter in Chicago without breaking the bank. This coat does not disappoint. I bought during the Anniversary Sale and did not notice the chemical smell mentioned in an earlier review. I like the belted waist and navy color. Quality seems good and it will be a classic in my closet. I ordered the 8 for room over sweaters or a blazer. I’m typically between a 6-8, so went up for comfort in shoulders.

I opened the stinky box and saw a very beautiful coat, and decided to try it on. As I took the coat out of the plastic, I realized the coat was the awful chemical smell, like it had been soaked in a pesticide or herbicide. It was very cute so I tried it on anyway, and really loved the style. But the smell was so strong I couldn’t leave the coat on for more than a few seconds. Then I realized my clothes had also taken the chemical smell from the coat. I wrapped the coat back up and put it right in the box for return. A coat of this quality should be wearable without having to be deep cleaned from the start. I know that some clothes made overseas are often treated with pesticide to keep them from getting damaged on the cargo ships, and I’m assuming that’s what happened with this item.
