Regina Pointelle Knit Cardigan

I didn't realize when I ordered this the sleeves were so oversized. You can see it in the photo in black. But even taking off the bottom layer on the sleeve leaving the top layer, they are still about 3 to 4 inches too long. The body of the sweater is a good fit and the pattern is nice but the sleeves would get in the way of using it at work or events. Imagine dragging them through a plate of food. I'm thinking of cutting them off about where this shows the seam midway down the arm to make them a 3/4 length. However even that will be odd looking because of the finishing on both layers. The bottom layer on the sleeve also comes down to an odd point at the seam that's to the back of the sleeve edge. Also on my size (3X} the 2 buttons do not hit at the bust, they're down near the waist. I'm also thinking of removing the 2 buttons and stitching the buttonholes shut. It's a lot of work but I waiting too long and now I'm outside of the return window.
