A Beautiful Barbour w/Odd Sizing
The Corbridge is the slim version of the Barbour Sapper, and it's VERY slim (the Sapper has a boxier, more generous cut). The advantage is that the Corbridge has a great silhouette, but finding your size can be a challenge. For reference, I' 5' 10" and have a 40" chest. I wear a size Medium in a Barbour Sapper jacket, and a Large in most other Barbours (like the Duke, Beaufort and Bedale). I'm a relatively slim guy, so I tried the Corbridge in a size Large, and it fit like a sausage casing! I ended up buying an XL and, while the sleeves are a bit long (by an inch, maybe?), the fit through the body is perfect. Another difference between the Corbridge and the Sapper is that the Corbridge is longer. On me, it's long enough to over a sport coat/suit. That's something you can't really do with a Bedale or Barbour's other shorter jackets.
The overall quality is outstanding. While not Barbour's heaviest weight jacket, the Corbridge feels very substantial. The insulation/fill is nice and light, but keeps you warm in relatively cold weather. With a little extra room, you can layer, which make this a three season jacket. While the Corbridge comes in four colors, I feel olive is the best color. It ages nicely, and works with a lot of different pieces.
I wanted one of these for a few years, and finally bit when it went on sale. I wish I'd gotten it sooner, as it's a very versatile jacket...I highly recommend it, just be careful with the size!
