Vela Leather Biker Jacket

I've been searching for a semi-fitted, semi-cropped leather jacket to replace a 20-year-old jacket than finally bit the dust. Finally found it! This one has soft, pliant leather, adequately long sleeves (I have long arms), and is slightly fitted through the torso. It's also not super-long, which works well on my 5'4" frame. I did size up to a US 10 from my usual 6 or 8, since leather jackets tend to be tight on my wide shoulders, and this was was definitely tight in the US 8.

I had this jacket in my Nordstrom wish list for two years, which never went on sale. Last week, I got a notice from Nordstrom Rack about an AllSaints flash event. I jumped on this jacket! It is super soft and lush and fits true to size. I tried the Vela on with a T-shirt as well as a wool sweater with the tee underneath, and the fit is great with either. Arms are a bit long but not worth getting them altered. The hardware is gold but subdued, not over the top. I love it, and I love the deal I got!

I’m surprised a 2 fit me as I’m usually a US 0 or 00. It’s not as tight fitting as on the model but it gives me more room to breathe and move while still hitting around my hip. The sleeve length is also good for me. I’ll mention that I usually do like a slightly oversized fit rather than a tight fit, but I wouldn’t mind sizing down to a 0. I’ve never owned anything from AllSaints but the leather seems good quality and is really soft. The minor thing that bugs me is the opposite side not folding or staying in place super well. I’m not sure if I would pay full price for this, but discounted, I think it’s worth it.
