Alexxis Distressed High Waist Cutoff Denim Shorts

I made a special, last minute trip to The Rack before a trip to find a few more pairs of shorts. I was excited to find these shorts in coral. They ran a few sizes smaller than I’m used to but I finally found a pair that fit well, paid, took them home and washed them to pack for our trip. I washed these shorts in cold water with other light colored garments. When I took them out of the washer to dry them, I noticed blue spots all over the front. I dug through the load of clothes to see if a dark item of clothing had ended up in the load to no avail. There were no blue spots on any other item of clothing in that load either. I wondered if the laundry soap tab had made the blue spots so I washed the shorts again by themselves with a clear, color-safe liquid detergent on cold. Upon removing the shorts from the second wash, the blue spots were larger and there were more of them so I came to the conclusion that the blue spots had been created by the coral color fading off to expose the blue denim underneath. There was no time to return them before the trip so I left them at home but I took them back a week or so later w/o tags attached (as I’d washed them) and explained my dilemma. Long story short, I got a refund (store credit only) which was fine but the clerk and manager both chastised me (a grown woman who has been doing laundry for about 30 years) for not knowing how to do laundry properly although I gave them the same explanation above. It was a very unpleasant and uncomfortable situation like nothing I’ve ever encountered at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack before. Boo to these shorts and boo to Nordstrom Rack Yakima.
